'The Dark Knight’s Aaron Eckhart to Star in 'The Expatriate' … THE WRAP

“The Dark Knight” star Aaron Eckhart will star in the action thriller ‘Erased,” it was announced by Informant Media, Smash Media and Essential Entertainment at AFM on Thursday.

Philipp Stolzl (“North Face”) will direct from an original screenplay by A.E. Amel.

Eckhart stars as Ben Logan, a former CIA agent searching for a fresh start with his estranged 15-year-old daughter, Amy. After taking a job in Belgium as a security expert for a large multinational corporation, he arrives at the office one morning to find that all of his colleagues have vanished and his division no longer exists. After learning that his assistant is actually a trained operative intent on killing both him and his daughter, Ben and Amy flee, with a highly-trained kill squad in hot pursuit.

Victorians Vibrate With ‘Hysteria’ … BLOOMBERG

Sarah Ruhl wrote a Broadway play about Victorian vibrators. Now the same buzz will be heard in a Hollywood movie.

“Hysteria,” a satire about late 19th-century sexual mores, will include one of the strange
remedies prescribed back then for emotionally distraught women: massage with an electronic vibrator.

“It’s a romantic comedy in the vein of ‘Shakespeare in Love,’ with a little bit of ‘The Full Monty’ thrown in,” said producer Judy Cairo, whose “Crazy Heart” won an Oscar for star Jeff Bridges.

Husband-and-wife Stephen Dyer and Jonah Lisa Dyer sent Cairo the script for “Hysteria”
following the success of “Crazy Heart.” Filming is scheduled to begin this summer, with a cast including Rupert Everett and Jonathan Pryce.

Eckhart joins Essential’s CIA actioner … DAILY VARIETY

Aaron Eckhart has signed up to star in CIA action pic “Erased,” which is being unveiled to buyers at AFM.

Pic is executive produced by Essential Entertainment, which is also handling international sales on the title.

Eckhart will play a former CIA agent who hopes to make a fresh start with his estranged 15-year-old daughter.

He moves to Belgium to work as a security expert and one day discovers that his colleagues have mysteriously vanished and a trained operative is intent on killing both him and his daughter.

Philipp Stolzl (“North Face” ) will helm the pic, which is produced by Informant Media’s Judy Cairo (“Crazy Heart”), Michael A. Simpson (“Crazy Heart”) and Howard Meltzer plus Harry Winer of Smash Media.

Eckhart takes CIA role in Essential Entertainment thriller … SCREEN DAILY

Aaron Eckhart is in talks to star in action thriller Erased which Essential Entertainment is introducing to buyers here.

Eckhart, an awards season contender for his performance in Rabbit Hole opposite Nicole Kidman, would play a former CIA agent working in Belgium who goes on the run with his estranged daughter when he is pursued by a kill squad.

Philipp Stolzl is directing from an original screenplay by A E Amel and the producers are targeting a first quarter 2011 production start on location in Belgium and Montreal.
